Three apartments in a large house on Garson Avenue were damaged by fire early Monday morning.
The Rochester Fire Department says it was called out shortly before 4:00 a.m. for the reported house fire and arrived to find smoke and flames coming from all three floors of the house. All 11 occupants and a dog made it out safely. An extra fire company was called in because of the size of the fire.
The fire department says the building is unlivable and the Red Cross is helping the residents find new housing. Nobody was reported hurt.
The fire is under investigation but may have been caused by unattended cooking.
