Hundreds or perhaps more than a thousand blue, black, gray and green uniforms were seen Monday morning as law enforcement officers from around the nation and Canada lined up on Broad Street in Rochester, forming ranks to honor slain Rochester Police Officer Anthony Mazurkiewicz.
The 29-year-RPD veteran was killed in the line of duty on July 21st while on an undercover detail on Bauman Street. His partner, Officer Sino Seng, was shot in the leg but is recovering. Police say a suspect fired into their van from concealment of some nearby bushes. A funeral service was held Monday at the Blue Cross Arena at the Community War Memorial.
Officer Mazurkiewicz was a member of the RPD’s Tactical Squad. He left four children, who recalled him as a family man and a hero to them before he was called a hero to the community.
