Despite outhitting the Toledo Mud Hens, 6-5, the Rochester Red Wings had their 5-game winning streak snapped on Friday night with a 2-0 loss.
The Mud Hens scored an unearned run in the fourth and then a home run in the sixth off Rochester starter Jose Berrios (5-3), who gave up just 2 hits in 6 innings of work. He walked 3 and struck out 7 while taking the loss.

The Buffalo Bills decided to sign one of the 7 tryout players who participated in the team’s minicamp this past week, according to Bills Insider Chris Brown. Offensive tackle Justin Renfrow (6-6, 310) signed with Buffalo Friday.
An undrafted prospect in 2014 out of Miami, Renfrow has been on the roster of four different NFL teams over the last two years, but has not appeared in any games. A former defensive end early in his college career, Renfrow is still young at the offensive tackle position and is likely seen as a developmental prospect.
To make room on the roster for Renfrow the Bills released S Phillip Thomas.

Less than one month until Rochester’s only professional golf tournament, the Danielle Downey Credit Union Classic, returns to Brook-Lea Country Club. Tickets still remain for the general public and local businesses to attend, sponsor or volunteer at the tournament which takes place from July 11-17, 2016 at legendary country club in Gates, NY.
The event, sponsored by Rochester Area Credit Unions, has general admission and clubhouse tickets available at Wegmans, and at www.Danielledowneyclassic,com. Weekly passes are discounted by $20 at participating credit unions. Ticket packages are also available from Monroe County Rotary Club members, ranging from $250 – $2,500. Packages contain ticket values that generally are twice that of individually purchased tickets.
Continuing the 40-year-old tradition of women’s golf in Rochester, the Danielle Downey Credit Union Classic is a tournament on the Symetra Tour, the only LPGA-owned developmental tour, to honor the legacy of Rochester native, Danielle Downey. Downey, who passed away in 2014, played on the LPGA Tour.
“Danielle was an advocate for empowering young golfers to follow their passions,” said Mike Vadala, tournament chairman and president/CEO of Summit Federal Credit Union. “I know that she would be proud to see this tournament grow in her hometown of Rochester while giving back to the youth in the community.”
Event proceeds go towards Danielle’s scholarship fund for young golfers and the Hillside Work-Scholarship Connection. HW-SC supports over 4,000 young people in Syracuse, Buffalo and Rochester.
To purchase tickets, volunteer, discover sponsorship opportunities, or for more information on the event, visit the tournament website www.danielledowneyclassic.com, or call (585) 943-0523. Tickets can also be purchased in person at participating credit union locations and at Wegmans.
