Rochester’s City Council Tuesday night honored two Franklin High School Campus security guards who jumped into action when a gunman threatened three students outside the school’s front door.

The gunman had already fired a shot at a male student, and two female students were crouching for cover in the doorway.

Deverin Dillon and Sandra Beasley opened the door and dragged the two girls inside. They prepared to do CPR on the male student, but somehow the bullet aimed at him had missed.

Dillon and Beasley called the school into lockout and summoned police.

Tuesday night, council honored them for courage and quick thinking.

Dillion said “we treat your kids like they’re our kids,” and said he’d do it again if he had to.
