The Livingston County Health Department says a gray fox that attacked a woman at her mailbox yesterday was rabid.
Heidi Wright was attacked by the fox late Wednesday morning. It attacked her several times and refused to be driven off. Finally Wright tackled the animal and suffocated it in the middle of the road.
This is the first animal to test positive for rabies in Livingston County this year.
