An 18-year-old man was pronounced dead shortly after arrival at Rochester General Hospital following a mass shooting incident at the Walmart on Hudson Avenue in Rochester. Three other people, including a 15-year-old girl, were injured and are recovering. This happened about 12:50 Monday morning.
Rochester police found that several hundred people had gathered in the parking lot when a fight broke out. Suddenly gunshots rang out, with more than 20 shots fired from multiple weapons. Investigators are still trying to determine if the shootings stemmed from the fight, or were fired as a result of a separate confrontation in the parking lot.
The incident was captured on numerous cellphone videos and posted to Facebook.
The Major Crimes Unit is investigating, and police are asking anyone who saw anything or has video of the incident to call 911.
