Four house fires took place in Rochester and the suburbs today; one in Gates and three in the city.

Gates firefighters got help from Greece, Rochester and Chili this morning when a house caught fire on Juliane Drive. Firefighters were able to confine the fire to the room where it started, but that corner of the house was heavily damaged.
One person who was home when the fire started was taken to the hospital as a precaution. The cause is under investigation by the Monroe County Fire Bureau.
Three other fires are under investigation as well. One at 23 Depew Street was knocked down without damage to the surrounding houses. Another started on the second floor of a house at 38 Arch Street in Rochester. Crews kept the fire from spreading into the attic, and two people who escaped from the fire were checked out on scene by paramedics.
The third fire was on Flower City Park just South of Ridgeway Avenue Tuesday night. Flames were shooting from the attic windows. Three children and an adult who were home escaped.
Firefighters tried to fight the fire from inside but had to get out when the roof began caving in. One firefighter suffered minor injuries.
