Four people were killed and a fifth was injured Saturday in a one-car crash in Allegany County. Three of the four dead were Dansville High School students from Livingston County.
State Police say the crash happened in the Town of Burns on Route 13C. Their investigation found that a jeep traveling east failed to stop at a T-intersection with another road. It then crashed into an embankment and a tree.
One passenger survived the crash; the only one wearing a seatbelt. Kelsi Bird, 16, of Dansville, is in stable condition after being flown by helicopter to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester.
Killed were 16-year-old Rebecca Earner, the driver, plus Ambra Eddleton, 16, Justin Carpenter, 14, and Kyrstin Wolfanger, 14. All were from Dansville.
Dansville High School posted a statement on its website mourning the slain and injured students and saying counselors would be available at the school on Sunday.
