A former yogurt plant in Batavia could be back in business under a $205 million dollar proposal to sell the plant to what officials call “one of the country’s largest branded dairy operators.”
The Democrat and Chronicle says documents filed with Genesee County’s Economic Development Center would restart the former Müller Quaker Dairy Plant. It was a joint venture between Theo Müller Group of Germany and PepsiCo. It closed in 2015 after failing to deliver on sales.
Restarting the plant in the Genesee Valley Agri-Business Park would create 230 jobs. Empire State Development CEO Howard Zemsky confirmed plans are underway, but wouldn’t say who state and local officials are working with.
