New York’s Inspector General says a former state employee has been sentenced to pay back more than $16,000 he stole from the New York State Office for People With Developmental Disabilities.

Inspector General Catherine Leahy Scott’s office says 46-year-old Donald Chrisman of Rochester was sentenced in Monroe County Court today after pleading guilty to grand larceny charges in November. Chrisman admitted to charging thousands of dollars worth of unauthorized items, including $4,000 on limousine service. He also took the family out to eat and on vacation on the taxpayers’ dime. He also used the card to pay for a ceremony at a Niagara Falls wedding chapel where he and his wife renewed their vows.
The inspector general calls it an affront to public trust and showing brazen disdain for the public.
