A former Rochester Institute of Technology student has admitted to helping her father cover up her mother’s murder last year.

Karrie Neurater pleaded guilty to one count of second degree murder in connection with the death of Michelle Neurater at her home in Corning. The Steuben County District Attorney says her plea was part of an agreement.

Her father, Lloyd Neurater, allegedly strangled his wife because of a dispute over child support and custody of the couple’s youngest child. Karrie Neurater admitted to driving her father to the house and then helping him stage the scene to make it look like her mother had committed suicide.

Lloyd Neurater is charged with first degree murder in a seven-count indictment. His daughter will testify against him in return for a 15-year prison sentence.

RIT officials say she is no longer registered as a student.
