According to Kingston police, a former MCC student lost her life Monday night after falling 150 feet from a cliff in a Kingston park.
20-year-old Katherine Vollmer of Rochester had transferred this fall frfom MCC to SUNY New Paltz. She was with a group of friends exploring caves and trails in Kingston’s Hasbrouck Park when the group got lost. They were following the edge of a cliff to get back to the parking lot when Vollmer slipped and fell.
Police say she landed in an area that could only be reached by a rope rescue team, which succeeded in recovering her body on Tuesday.
