Former Northwood Elementary School Principal Kirk Ashton has been sentenced to 63 years in prison after a jury found him guilty last month of sexually abusing 21 students between 2014 and 2021. Because his sentence is capped under state law, the Monroe County District Attorney says he will serve only 20 years of that sentence.
Several parents spoke out in court on Wednesday morning about the pain and suffering they say Ashton caused their families. They pushed for the maximum sentence.
Prosecutor Sara Vanstrydonck said says employees in the Hilton Central School District who had suspicions about Ashton and didn’t report them may face their own legal troubles…saying if staff or teachers knew of substantive allegations against Ashton and didn’t report them, they will be investigated.
