The former owner of Jackson Guns and Ammo…. and two of his employees… have been charged with violating the NY SAFE Act..by selling more than 100 firearms with features that were outlawed by the 2013 gun control law.
The gun store in Henrietta was the subject of a two-year investigation by the New York State Attorney General’s Office and State Police. Attorney General Eric Schneiderman says former owner Kordell Jackson, Ken Youngren of Alfred and Joshua Perkins of Irondequoit each face multiple felony charges including Criminal Sale of a Firearm. Jackson closed down the business in January.
Jackson agreed to turn himself in to police; the former employees are already in custody. The charges state that Jackson continued to sell semi-automatic firearms that violated the new law, notably the ability to accept large-capacity magazines. The investigation began in 2014 when federal agents noticed discrepancies in the store records and contacted the state.
State Police say they have tracked down and collected most of the firearms that were sold in violation of the act.
