The Monroe County Health Department says the flu is currently circulating “at a high level” in Monroe County.
They say reported cases more than doubled from the prior week, and there have been 365 lab-confirmed cases of influenza in Monroe County as of last week. More than 100 of those required hospitalization. The actual number of cases is probably higher.
The health department says now is the time to wash hands often, stay home if you have flu-like symptoms and cover your cough. The flu season continues for a couple more months, so it still makes sense to get a flu shot.
