A flood watch is on for Friday for the Lake Ontario coastline along Monroe and Orleans Counties. Winds are expected to swing into the northeast, driving waves ashore.
Lake Ontario at Rochester has risen again. At Thursday’s check the Army Corps of Engineers found 247.85 feet, very close to 248, about two feet above the long-term average.
Bob Scott lives in Greece on Ontario Boulevard, just west of Braddock Bay. He says he’s lucky that his home was built across the street from the lakefront, so the road protects his house. His neighbors aren’t that lucky. They have water coming across their yards and flooded basements. Water was already up to the edge of their lawns even without wind-driven waves.
