A police chase that started with a holdup at the CVS in Farmington ended with one person dead and another critically injured Wednesday.
Captain John Ott of the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office says an Ontario County deputy spotted the suspect vehicle from the robbery on 490 heading for Rochester and gave chase. But he backed off per his department policy when the car took off at extreme speed.
The driver lost control of the Volkswagen Jetta in Pittsford and crashed by the Fairport off ramp near Saint John Fisher College. The car tumbled end-over-end, ejecting both people inside.
The sheriff’s office says 33-year-old Noah Marinelli of Canandaigua was driving. He was found dead 150 feet from the wreck in some woods. 31-year-old Danielle Golding of Utica was found just outside the car and airlifted by Mercy Flight to Strong Memorial Hospital. She’s in serious condition.
