A University of Rochester professor has stepped down as head of the undergraduate computer science program after a post on his Facebook page raised an uproar.
Ted Pawlicki offered to buy bus fare to Canada for students protesting against President-Elect Donald Trump if they promised not to come back. Pawlicki posted the comment the day before Friday’s anti-Trump protest on campus, causing some students to report him for a “bias incident.”
According to the “Campus Times,” Pawlicki remains on the faculty but stepped down as director of the program and deleted the post. In an apology, he wrote that his remarks were ill-considered and he regrets any hurt they caused.
