Monroe County Legislator Ernest Flagler-Mitchell has stepped down as head of the Black and Asian Democratic Caucus on the county legislature, but retains his seat amid new calls for his to resign.

The Black and Asian Caucus says Legislator Calvin Lee Jr. will take over as acting leader.

Thursday, a 13th woman came forward with allegations that Flagler-Mitchell had made inappropriate contact with her. In this case, she said he had pressed her for sexual favors in return for helping her with a child custody case.

The Democratic Caucus and Republican Legislature President Joe Carbone both called on Flagler-Mitchell to resign based on this and earlier allegations. Flagler-Mitchell said he was being falsely accused.

The Democratic Caucus said Friday that it’s submitted paperwork to call for a special legislature meeting to consider a censure of Flagler-Mitchell, and reconsider proposed changes to the legislature’s ethics code that the Republican majority declined to take up earlier.
