New York State Police say a Tuesday accident on the State Thruway in Henrietta happened when 43-year-old William Shanahan of West Seneca drifted off the road while driving eastbound near mile marker 356.
Troopers say Shanahan overcorrected, sending his Chevy Trailblazer shooting across the highway where it rolled over several times on the shoulder. Four of the five people in the SUV were ejected, the only one remaining with the car being a one-year-old child strapped into a car seat.
Passenger Dustin Jones is currently in critical condition at Strong Memorial Hospital. Lisa Driscoll is at strong with serious but non life-threatening injuries. Eight-year-old Chloe Driscoll and one-year-old Ava Jones suffered minor injuries. Shanahan also suffered minor injuries.
All are from West Seneca.
Charges against Shanahan are pending.
