The Monroe County Health Department concludes five people…possibly six…died as a result of the 2017 Wind Storm.
Two died in Sunday’s house fire in Henrietta when either a generator or a burning fireplace set their home ablaze. Two people died falling down stairs in the dark in homes without power. One more person died of injuries falling off a roof while checking on damage.
Health Director Dr. Michael Mendoza says the cause of the Henrietta fire is still being investigated, but he believes it happened because the home was without power. He’s not counting the death of a driver in Spencerport who ran through a dark intersection and hit another car. That driver may have suffered a medical issue.
