Snow in DarkUPDATE:

Power outages from the winter storm are now down to about 1,100 from a high of nearly 18,000 last night.

Several thousand were caused by car crashes taking down power lines, and one large outage was caused by a tree falling in Webster on Lake Road. It took down

several lines cutting power to about a thousand RG&E Customers. About 700 are still out.

Nearly 18,000 Rochester Gas and Electric Customers lost electric power Sunday evening because of the high winds, falling trees and snow.

Power went out on both the east and west sides of Monroe County. Power failed in the Hilton-Spencerport area with some 5,000 outages in Parma and Ogden. Greece had close to 8,000 outages.

Much of the Greece problem was the result of a crash on Manitou Road that took out several power lines.

Power came back on in Spencerport/Ogden about 11:00 p.m. Customers around Mill Road and North Avenue in Greece came back about the same time.

A tree fell on lake Road in Webster in the snow and high winds Sunday afternoon, hitting a car and also taking down several power lines. That put about 1,000 customers in the dark.

RG&E closed Lake Road from Holt Road to Burnett Road overnight so they could make repairs.
