Coordinated fireworks displays at ten sites around the state celebrated the end of the COVID-19 restrictions Tuesday night. Governor Cuomo ordered the fireworks displays, held at the Dome Arena in Henrietta for the Rochester area, to mark the ending of COVID restrictions.
On Tuesday, the state canceled nearly all its masking, social distancing and capacity limits on businesses and public venues around the state, once 70 percent of the population had at least its first dose of the COVID vaccine.
The fireworks were to celebrate how far the state has come since the pandemic began 15 months ago and forced the state to go into lockdown.
