Two of the three former gun dealers charged with criminal sale of a firearm have pleaded “not guilty” in Monroe County Court.
Kordell Jackson of Henrietta and Joshua Perkins of Irondequoit were arraigned Tuesday and authorities say evidence will be presented to a grand jury. The third man, Ken Youngren of Alfred, was to turn himself in.
The 40-year-old Jackson owned Jackson Guns and Ammo in Henrietta until closing down early last year. Perkins and Youngren were store employees. All are charged with violating the New York SAFE Act by continuing to sell rifles that were classified as illegal assault weapons under the state gun control law.
Jackson’s attorney says the NY SAFE act wasn’t meant to target federally licensed gun dealers like his client. He says more than half of Jackson’s customers were in law enforcement.
