Livingston County Sheriff Thomas Dougherty says somone broke into the Lima Presbyterian Church on West Main Street in Lima on Sunday morning and set fire to a bible at the front of the church.
The sheriff says his deputies and fire personnel were called to the church at about 9:00 Sunday morning after the pastor went into the church and noticed heavy smoke in the sanctuary. He saw that a fire had been started inside and was still smoldering.
The sheriff’s Criminal Investigations Division, Patrol Division and Forensic Identification Unit are all investigating.
