A two-alarm fire on South Clinton Avenue tonight has left 14 people looking for another place to live.

A Rochester Fire Department spokeswoman says firefighters were called out at 8:20 to the corner of South Avenue and Gregory Street in the South Wedge for a fire in a mixed use apartment and commercial building. They arrived to find heavy smoke pouring out of all three stories,

and it took an hour to bring the fire under control.

All 11 adults and three children living in the apartments got out safely and no firefighters were injured. The fire appears to have started in the first floor business. The cause is under investigation.
