Rochester Fire Investigators say the cause of a fire early Sunday morning at the Susan B. Anthony House Museum is “suspicious.”
The fire broke out shortly after 1:00 a.m. at the rear of the Anthony House. It was reported both by the museum’s alarm system and by neighbors who saw the flames. It heavily damaged the back porch of the house.
Rochester firefighters arrived within two minutes and forced entry into the building, where they secured numerous historic photos and other artifacts to protect them from smoke and water.
The Rochester Fire Investigation Unit continues to investigate how the fire started. There are reports security cameras picked up someone at the rear of the house before the fire started.
