A Rochester Fire Department spokeswoman says it was spontaneous combustion of textiles that caused a three-alarm fire Wednesday evening on St Paul Street.
An automatic alarm went off shortly after 7:00 p.m. at the Alsco laundry and linen supply company at 548 St. Paul. Firefighters found smoke coming from the rear of the 65,000 square foot building. Second and third alarms were called because of the heat and the need for manpower.
Firefighters and the building’s sprinkler system kept the fire contained to one part of the building, but the entire structure was filled with smoke. Nobody was hurt.
