Students attending class at MCC’s Damon City Campus in the Sibley Building had to evacuate at about 10:30 this morning after fire alarms went off.
The Rochester Fire Department responded and discovered a fire had been smoldering inside a wall on the 7th floor. There’s no report of anyone being hurt.
DiMarco Constructors says one of its construction superintendents working on the building’s remodeling noticed smoke in a bathroom on the 7th floor and sounded the alarm. The fire was immediately extinguished but the building was evacuated as a precaution. The fire department is investigating the cause, which is believed to be construction related.
