Eleven people had to find temporary housing after fire heavily damaged a large home on Averill Avenue in Rochester.
The Rochester Fire Department says a kitchen fire was reported in the two-and-a-half story home shortly after 4:30 p.m. Thursday. Fire crews were there within three minutes to find fire and smoke coming from the side and rear of the first floor. They were able to contain the fire to that area only.
Eleven residents got out safely and were being helped by the Red Cross. Investigators are looking at the cause of the fire.
