Five adults and five children were being assisted with temporary housing by the Red Cross after fire hit their apartment house on Driving Park Avenue Friday night.

The Rochester Fire Department says a family’s dog died in the fire, which broke out shortly after 6:00 p.m. Two people were home at the time and were able to get out safely.

Fire reached from the basement to the second floor, causing heavy damage to the building. The cause has not yet been determined.
