Fire destroyed a house on the Ontario/Seneca County line early Wednesday morning.

The house on Scoon Road was fully engulfed in flames when the Hall Fire Department arrived. It was under control an hour and 15 minutes later with help from half-a-dozen area fire companies, but the two story home and its contents were destroyed. Cars and an outbuilding were damaged.

Both the occupants were awakened by a smoke detector and called 911. Both got out safely and nobody was hurt in the fire. Two cats are missing.

Preliminary investigation shows the fire started on the first floor.
