The City of Rochester had dedicated its new fire/rescue boat, naming it the “Leonard Redon” in honor of the former deputy mayor who passed away in 2017.
The boat is deployed from the Lake Avenue Fire Station for water-based emergencies on Lake Ontario and the Genesee River up to the Veterans Bridge. It can rescue up to eight people, and can pump more than 1500 gallons of water per minute plus fire-suppression foam. The boat can work into the cold winter months and poor weather conditions.
