Irondequoit police officer William Robert Rosica has been charged by federal prosecutors with stalking and trying to make unlawful access to a protected computer.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office says the 50-year-old officer carried out a campaign of harassment against his ex-girlfriend for nearly a year after they broke up. Before he was arrested, they say Rosica sent a stream of texts, phone calls and emails to the woman, as well as her ex-husband and coworkers.
He allegedly tried to hack into her work email account and her office’s secure medical records system until he was arrested earlier this week.
He faces a detention hearing Friday morning in federal court.
