Parcel 5

Early this morning, FBI agents began searching the offices of Morgan Communities in Pittsford.

Agents showed up with a warrant to search the headquarters of developer Robert Morgan, a major figure in real estate markets in Rochester and in Buffalo. The FBI raid was first reported by the Buffalo News.

Morgan is involved in the redevelopment of Parcel 5 in downtown Rochester, in the Tower 280 project, the purchase and redevelopment of the old Gannett Building at Exchange and Broad Streets and other projects. He owns and manages thousands of apartments in Buffalo and has holdings in more than a dozen states.

The Democrat and Chronicle reported last fall that the FBI was investigating bank loans to his Morgan’s real estate operations.

An FBI spokeswoman said agents were conducting “court authorized activity” at Morgan Communities. Morgan could not be reached.
