A father and his three children had to jump for it this afternoon when their boat went up in flames on Canandaigua Lake.
The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office says 27-year-old Nathaniel Burnett of Stanley was out on the water with ten-year-old Brooklyn, six-year-old Paige and four-year-old Rachel when the boat caught fire. All four members of the family jumped overboard in their life jackets and swam ashore. Neighbors from homes along County Route 16 jumped into the water and helped Burnett and his children to shore.
Deputies say two of the children had minor burns to their feet and legs and were treated at Thompson Hospital in Canandaigua.
The boat was destroyed.
