One man is dead after a fire Tuesday night on Hooker Street in Rochester.
The Rochester Fire Department says the blaze was reported shortly after 7:00 p.m. Firefighters arrived to find smoke coming from the second floor. Two of the three adults who were home at the time got out safely. The third was found in a second-floor bathroom and carried out by firefighters. He was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Authorities have not yet released the victim’s name. They say there were no working smoke detectors in the house. Investigators are looking into what caused the fire.

Rochester Firefighters also responded to a house on Farragut Street about an hour after the fatal fire for a blaze in a single family home.
Crews arrived to find a fire in the basement. Nobody was home at the time. Firefighters had the blaze under control in about 30 minutes. There was extensive damage to the house.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
