An Ontario County man has been found guilty of criminally negligent homicide and two counts of assault after his truck caused a chain reaction crash.
John Pinnock of Farmington was driving his pickup truck on Route 96 near Payne Road nearly two years ago when a wheel suddenly came off. The resulting five-car crash killed Harold Schutt of Clifton Springs and injured two other people.
Prosecutors introduced evidence that Pinnock had been warned his truck was unsafe. Instead of fixing the unsafe wheel bearing, he put a forged inspection sticker on it.
Pinnock could get up to four years in prison when he’s sentenced on July 5th.
