A Farmington man has been charged with animal cruelty after his pit bull was found locked in a shed in temperatures in the 30s.

The Ontario County Humane Society charged 27-year-old Marcos Perez with failure to provide sustenance to an animal and cruelty to an animal. Investigators looking into reports of a whining dog found the pit bull named Blade had been kept in a small cage in the shed without food or water, and the cage was filled with urine and feces.

The dog was also unlicensed and unvaccinated. The Humane Society seized Blade and is giving him veterinary care. Perez will answer the charges in Farmington Court.
