The AAA of Western and Central New York says summer travel is going to be more affordable and both national and regional gas prices continue falling.
The AAA says the average statewide gasoline price is now $2.46 per gallon, down three cents over the last week and only two cents above a year ago when prices started rising. The Rochester average is $2.40, down two cents. Buffalo is down three cents at $2.39 and Syracuse is down four cents at $2.33.
Memorial Day set records for gasoline demand, but even so supplies are still ahead of demand by about two million barrels. Since the holiday, both demand and the national price average have fallen steadily.
The AAA says the lower-priced gasoline will make for a more affordable summer as school ends and families begin vacation road trips.
