Irondequoit police say everyone survived a serious crash on Empire Boulevard Thursday morning.
Police Chief Alan Laird says an SUV crossed the center line and struck the rear wheels of a tractor trailer rig, knocking the wheels off the trailer chassis. The SUV spun onto the north shoulder of the road with heavy damage.
The driver of the SUV was partially ejected and was seriously injured. She’s in stable condition at Strong Memorial Hospital. A young child in the SUV and the truck driver suffered lesser injuries, and were taken to Strong for treatment. Names were not released.
An investigation into what caused the SUV to veer across the road remains open.
