The South Korean captures the title on the fourth playoff hole at Brook-Lea CC.
GATES, N.Y. — Eun Jeong Seong won the Danielle Downey Federal Credit Union Classic with a birdie on the fourth playoff hole Sunday afternoon at Brook-Lea Country Club.
Seong was 6-under par through 7 holes, including an eagle on the seventh hole, but bogeys on 17 and 18 left her at 12-under par with Meadow still on the course.
The third round leader posted 4 birdies and 3 bogies on the back nine, the last one on the 18th to force a playoff.
In the playoff, both golfers parred the 18th 3 times before Seong left herself a 5-footer for birdie. It marked her first professional victory in just her seventh tournament.
The South Korean shot a final round 68 to finish in a tie with third round leader Stephanie Meadow, who fired a 71, both at 12-under-par 276. Meadow entered the final round with a 3-stroke lead.
The duo finished 2 shots ahead of American Kristy McPherson and Canadian Augusta James.
