The ESL Federal Credit Union is partnering with the United Way of Greater Rochester, offering to match all donations to the United Way Community Fund up to $500,000.
The half-million dollar ESL Give Back Challenge honors a gift given by George Eastman in 1918, when he donated $500,000 to found the Community War Chest, the ancestor of the United Way. ESL will use its $500,000 to match all new and increased donations to the Community Fund.
ESL President Faheem Masood says the prosperity of the Rochester community is essential to the future of the credit union. United Way says this is huge for the Community Fund.
