Two first responders were assaulted early Wednesday morning by a man and a woman they were trying to help after an accident on I-390 in Rush.
According to the Rush Volunteer Fire Department, the two EMTs were dispatched to a report of a car into a guardrail near exit 11. They found a man and a woman unconscious in the car and tried to wake them, at which point the couple woke up and began fighting with the ambulance crew. Punches were thrown and the woman bit one of the EMTs.
The man eventually jumped back into his car and drove it at the ambulance crew and firefighters. They scattered, the woman jumped through the passenger window into the car, and the driver took off.
Monroe County deputies caught up with the pair a short time later on Route 251 and arrested them.
