Economic development organizations in Rochester and Buffalo say they’re disappointed that the cities didn’t make the cut for the site of Amazon’s second headquarters. But they say they are proud of the joint proposal the two cities put forth.
Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce CEO Bob Duffy says lack of international air connections may have hampered the region’s bid. Duffy says this isn’t a complete loss for Rochester and Buffalo. He says we’ve put ourselves on a lot of radar screens that didn’t know about us before.
In a joint statement, the heads of Greater Rochester Enterprise and Invest Buffalo Niagara say their combined proposal was an inventive exercise in regional thinking focused on the attraction of new capital investment and jobs. The two groups say they learned a lot about how Buffalo and Rochester can work together to promote the region.
