The George Eastman Museum holds a public forum this evening to lay out its plans for renovation of the historic George Eastman House mansion, and the relocation and redesign of the museum’s main entrance.

The meeting in the Curtis Theater at 900 East Avenue is intended to drum up community and financial support for the $2 million renovation. The museum is seeking a $1 million state economic development grant to help make it happen.

The Eastman wants to move its main entrance from the north end of the museum facing University Avenue to the opposite side, facing the main parking lot. That will improve public and tour bus access and create more accessible parking spaces. They also plan to expand the museum cafe, add unisex/family restrooms and renovate the Curtis Theater.

They’re hoping for funding from the New York State Council on the Arts and Empire State Development.
