Fire destroyed the Valley Motel in East Bloomfield early Thursday morning. The remains of the building were being torn down Thursday morning.

The motel was used as emergency housing by local authorities. The fire was reported shortly after midnight at the motel on Routes 5 & 20 at Route 444.

Deputies went door-to-door warning residents to get out of the building. Ten people escaped the fire. Thirteen fire companies responded and had to fight the fire in below-zero temperatures with strong winds that fanned the flames.
