As the Monroe County Board of Elections puts it, “We asked, and the voters resoundingly responded! “
The board says the nine-day early voting period wrapped up Sunday afternoon by setting a new record. ON the last day, 10,956 voters cast their ballots at the half-dozen polling places around Monroe County.
The total in nine days of early voting was 105,733 people voting in advance of election day. That’s 20 percent turnout. Add to that more than 136,000 absentee ballots that have come in, and turnout is 38 percent. Absentee ballots continue to arrive, and any postmarked by Tuesday will count.
Election Day is Tuesday, November 3rd.
