The polls are open until 9:00 p.m. in this year’s local election, where choice of a Monroe County Sheriff and a Rochester mayor are the big races. Town supervisors and officials are also up for election today.

As of midday, the Monroe County Board of Elections says eight percent of the registered voters have gone to the polls. That’s one point higher than in the 2013 off-year elections. Nine percent of the suburbs have voted, but just five percent of the city.
