East Rochester police say one of their officers was injured during a chase of suspected auto thieves over the weekend.
Chief Michael Brandenburg said on Facebook that an officer discovered a burglary in progress at the Vision Kia dealership on East Linden Avenue about 1:30 Saturday morning. The officer spotted several suspects fleeing in a stolen car, and was hit by that car as he was getting out of his patrol car.
The chief says his officer then pursued the fleeing car until it crashed at West Linden Avenue and Route 441. A second stolen car also crashed, hitting the Techniplex Building at West Commercial and Main Streets in East Rochester.
Several suspects were taken into custody and proved to be 13-to-15 years old. The officer’s injuries were not severe.
